Nigeria to warm up in Morocco

Nigeria s Olympic football team will play in a four-nation invitational tournament in Morocco next month according to the Nigerian Football Federation.

The team is under the tutelage of coach Austin Eguavoen and will engage in the tournament ahead of campaigning in the eight-nation CAF under-23 competition, where three African representatives will emerge to play at the London 2012 games.

It is Nigeria’s last hope to secure representation at an international competition next year after the senior team failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations. The women’s team also failed to earn a ticket to the London games.

Eguavoen is presently on a tour of Europe where he is trying to secure agreements with his players’ clubs for their release during the main competition that commences on November 26 in Morocco.

Nigeria were silver medallists at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
